Gloria Epstein, former justice in the Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal for Ontario and º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ alumna, has been .

The annual award recognizes Toronto lawyers for their outstanding contributions to the legal profession.

A graduate of U of T’s Faculty of Law, Epstein practiced litigation at two large Toronto firms before founding Gloria Epstein & Associates in the mid-1980s.

In 2007, she was appointed to the Ontario Court of Appeal, where her decision in the case of M v. H helped pave the way for marriage equality in Canada. She retired from the bench in 2018 to lead the .

Epstein has received numerous awards in recognition of her contributions, including a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa and Arbor Award from U of T. Today, she continues to work as a mediator and arbitrator in Toronto.
